Will there be a new national coach?
Guy Goodes is a leading candidate to coach the Israeli national team in place of Oded Katash, who is ending his contract after four years and will probably not continue in the position.
Goodes (50), who has coached Maccabi Rishon Lezion in recent years, may be appointed to the position and lead the team in the World Cup qualifying campaign that will begin in November and also in the 2022 European Championship, two important tasks in which the basketball association has high hopes.
The second candidate for the position is Ariel Beit Halachmi.
The coach of Hapoel Eilat, who led the reserve team to historic victories at European championships in recent years, is valued among the members of the basketball association, is also on the lists as a possible replacement for Katsch.
