Like McFly and Carlito, do you dream of doing a somersault on the presidential lawn?

Unless you are Youtubeur or “evening visitor” by Emmanuel Macron, European Heritage Days are your only hope of entering number 55 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, in Paris (8th district).

The most prestigious home in the Republic, the Élysée Palace opens its gates to visitors on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 September on the occasion of the 38th edition of European Heritage Days.

During this edition entitled “Heritage for all”, the former residence of the Marquise de Pompadour will welcome visitors until 7 pm, an hour more than in previous years.

According to our information, after a 2020 edition severely impacted by the Covid-19 epidemic, the visitor gauge has also been revised upwards with more than 10,000 visitors expected over the entire weekend.

Before the crisis, the palace welcomed nearly 15,000 curious people.

For the third consecutive year, reservations are only accessible via an online ticket office, open this Friday at 8 p.m. on the Élysée website, allowing visitors to choose their day and time of visit.

The health pass requested

The tour of the “castle” has not changed. The lucky ones will start from the gardens to the Golden Salon, the office of all the presidents of the Fifth Republic, on the first floor. Before entering it, they will pass through the library and the various adjoining lounges, such as the Salon des Aides de camp or the Salon Murat, which “have all been recently renovated” and embellished with a contemporary touch. At the end of the circuit, several presidential cars will be exhibited in the Cour d'honneur, and the thirstiest will be able to hurry to the refreshment bar held for the first time by the teams of the Joyeux Café, which employs people with disabilities.

And like the previous year, thirteen photographers from the main press agencies who follow Emmanuel Macron will also exhibit their work around the theme “Views of the Élysée”. In particular, the public will be able to vote for their favorite photo. For snow globe aficionados and other goodies stamped blue-white-red, the Élysée store will also be there to offer a wide selection of souvenirs, from the plush toy of Nemo, the president's labrador, to the bag for pétanque balls, "all made in France".

Covid requires, and despite green indicators, the health pass will be requested at the entrance for each visitor. Wearing a mask also remains compulsory and hydroalcoholic gel markers will be positioned throughout the course. Reservations for visits, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., must be made from this Friday, September 10 from 8 p.m. on the official website.
