The sunny autumn weather takes a break for now.

Thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail have been announced for the next two days.

It starts in the afternoon.

Munich - The weather * is upside down in Bavaria too.

The summer was too wet in many places and sometimes too cold.

But with the meteorological change in autumn, the sun came back to the Free State.

The longest period of good weather of the entire summer currently prevails, writes graduate meteorologist Dominik Jung.

We owe this to two hurricanes *.

They shovel plenty of warm and humid air to Central Europe.

However, they also have thunderstorms and heavy rain in their luggage.

(By the way: Our Bavaria newsletter informs you about all developments and results from the Free State about the upcoming federal election - and of course about all other important stories from Bavaria.)

Weather in Bavaria: muggy and warm air brings thunderstorms

Due to a thick layer of clouds and the high temperatures from the Mediterranean area, today (September 10th) some parts of Germany had the warmest September nights that have ever been recorded. In Trier in Rhineland-Palatinate, it was 19.2 degrees the warmest night since records began in 1907. We owe this to ex-hurricane Ida and now ex-hurricane Larry. This hangs over Iceland and "pumps very warm, but also very humid and humid air masses to us in Germany," writes Jung. For Bavaria this means summer temperatures of around 25 degrees in Landshut * and up to 26 degrees in Passau *.

But humid and warm air - apart from the fact that it makes you sweat - still has one disadvantage.

It leads to thunderstorms *.

And from the afternoon they will move towards the Free State.

In the evening and at night on Saturday, the thunderstorm roller then extends over the western edge of the Alps to the far east of Bavaria and into the northern Alpine foothills, writes the German Weather Service (DWD).

There it goes on to say: “In some cases heavy rain with amounts of over 25 l / m² in a short time or over 40 l / m² in a few hours, hail with grain sizes of around two cm and stormy gusts of around 70 km / h.

Most likely on the Alps or in the southern foreland. ”The state capital Munich could also be affected.

Weather in Bavaria: The start of the week will be sunny again

A little rainfall * could do us quite well - even if we felt we had enough of it in the last few weeks and months.

Because so far September was around 1.5 degrees too warm and much too dry.

"The precipitation target was met to 0.1 percent," writes Jung in his press release.

That will certainly change on Saturday.

Rain and thunderstorms have been announced for all of Bavaria.

It stays warm with values between 18 and 22 degrees.

On Sunday the spook is over again and it stays dry with similar temperatures.

The start of the week will be sunny again and in the middle of the week it will be really summery again with values around 25 degrees.
