A person died today and another was injured as a result of a truck colliding with a motorbike on the old Damascus-Homs highway, “Cargo Road.”
In a statement to SANA, Colonel Iyad Abla, head of the Damascus Countryside Traffic Operations Department, said that the accident was caused by the deterioration of a truck loaded with iron in the Al-Thanaya area in Damascus countryside, which led to a collision with a motorcycle and the death of its driver, a young man in his twenties, in addition to the injury of the truck driver.
Colonel Abla explained that the accident occurred as a result of the truck driver losing control of it due to a technical malfunction, which led to a complete breakdown of the brakes and an increase in speed in conjunction with a motorcycle passing in front of him, which led to a collision with it and the death of its driver on the spot, while the truck driver was taken to Qatifah National Hospital.
