People who are tempted by speed and overflowing gullies annoy people in Mittelstetten

For the first time in two years, some people from Mittelstetten have seen a citizens' meeting again. For the first time in two years, some people from Mittelstetten have seen a citizens' meeting again.

Almost 80 community citizens - many more would not have been allowed due to the Corona requirements - followed the very detailed first statement of accounts by the (no longer so) new town hall chief Franz Ostermeier.

There was no greater need for discussion afterwards.

Mittelstetten - From the citizenship, some gullies in the districts that had filled up after downpours were addressed, which - as a speaker from Oberdorf said - had "not been cleaned for five years".

You will have to live with increasing heavy rain, said the mayor.

Normally, of course, the building yard takes care of the manholes twice a year.

And “nothing against our farmers,” continues Ostermeier, but after the hay harvest the streets were full of straw, which at some point would clog the drains.

Speeders in Oberdorf

Speeders in Oberdorf, especially buses and trucks, were another topic.

He could talk to the bus operator, but not slow down heavy traffic, said the town hall chief.

And traffic calming must be able to be financed: “A small traffic island costs 100,000 euros, a large one 300,000.” According to one resident, people drive more slowly, but still too quickly, in the so-called bird settlement in the south of Central Stetten.

Tempo 30 has been in effect there for some time now. Ostermeier ironically asked whether he should prescribe Tempo 10.

90 percent of these speeders are residents, with whom you just have to talk.

“They are resistant to advice,” said one heckler.

Corona again and again

The mayor addressed many issues in his report, with the virus almost always playing a role. For example, the digital (elementary) school that was suddenly ordered: “What the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs has missed for years, the municipalities can now pay for.” And far too much - system administration, maintenance, replacement procurement - is still unclear. In the kindergarten, on the other hand, the teachers were also able to implement their own corona emergency plans, such as the three-part garden: one day a group was allowed to swing, the next on the slide, on the third day climbing was possible.

In addition, Ostermeier addressed the community development concept, for which an interim result is available, which the local council first deals with at a closed meeting before it is presented to the citizens.

For the cycle path along the B 2, there are now two exchange plots in the hands of the municipality on the Mittelstetten side.

A joint meeting with those owners in Hattenhofen who still need land is planned for the near future.

Life seems to be gradually returning to normal: clubs are slowly becoming active again.

So there was the football duel between the married and the single at the Grashoppers.

With him as a player it would have turned out differently than 1: 2, Ostermeier was sure.

The mayor preferred not to name the final result of the game “Bauwagen Mittelstetten” against “Bauwagen Diepoltshofen”.
