In the Freising district, the shortage of teachers is having bizarre flowers: Now even retirees have to work again - and not just them.

District

- The Freising State Education Authority is responsible for 41 primary and secondary schools in the district.

The latest figures and information for the school year 2021/2022 have now been published.

There is a wide range of courses available at school, the lessons are secured - also by external staff and by teachers who are actually already retired.

The main key figures in the coming school year are pretty much unchanged compared to the years before: A total of 9214 students in the district will take part in lessons (6554 in elementary schools and 2660 in secondary schools), according to the education authority.

In the previous year there were 9,082 students, in the 2019/2020 school year there were 9,216 students.

And that's why the number of classes is similar: 453 classes will be formed from 2021 (450 were in 2020/2021, 453 in the previous year).

There will be 312 classes in primary schools and 141 in middle schools, so the average class size will be 20.3 (compared to 20.2 in the 2020/2021 school year and 20.3 in 2019/2020).

32 trainee teachers are starting their first year of service

Only one number deviates significantly from the statistics of the two previous years: 1765 school beginners are counted this year, in the previous year there were only 1564, in the year before last there were 1651.

Important: All class leader positions could be filled.

And that brings you to the staff: 82 teachers have been transferred to the primary and secondary schools in the district for the upcoming school year.

In addition, 42 teachers with 912 hours per week are “on duty in the auxiliary service”, as the mobile reserve is described.

32 trainee teachers will start their first year of service on September 13th, 29 are in their second year and will take their second teaching examination.

For the first time, external staff has to be involved to ensure the supply of lessons

In order to ensure the provision of lessons, and this is new, external staff “with a specialist academic background” is now deployed in primary and secondary schools, for example in the preliminary courses at primary schools and in peripheral subjects at secondary schools.

Furthermore, there will be the return of experienced teachers from retirement to school service, according to the education authority.

Also new: the funding program "Joint.Building Bridge".

This program - also through external staff - is intended to compensate for disadvantages caused by the pandemic for the pupils.

And there will also be combined year classes: Together in grades 1 and 2, the children will be taught in three classes at the Attenkirchen elementary school and in one class at the Hohenkammer elementary school.

The practical class at the Lerchenfeld Middle School is new

In Hohenkammer there is also a combined year class for grades 3 and 4. In the school year 2021/2022 there will be ten cooperation classes - mainly in the speech healing area and in grades 1 to 4. There are also five so-called partner classes with the Froebel School - two classes in primary school Eching an der Danziger Straße, two at the St. Lantbert elementary school in Freising and one at the Montessori middle school.

The practical class at the Lerchenfeld Middle School is new, in which pupils are specifically encouraged and brought to a positive learning attitude, which takes place in close cooperation with companies in which internships are completed.

In addition, there are 55 so-called “preparatory courses” in kindergarten age for language training in the pre-school area, in which 643 children will take part.

Two elementary schools in Freising offer an open all-day program

There will be a total of 16 full-day classes at the primary schools and 19 at the secondary schools. There will also be an open all-day program at two primary schools in Freising, at the Montessori primary and secondary school and at the Allershausen, Neustift, Hallbergmoos, Nandlstadt, Neufahrn and Zolling secondary schools.

537 students will attend the 30 M-classes in the coming school year in order to achieve the secondary school leaving certificate.

In addition, there will be three preparatory classes in Hallbergmoos, in which 58 students who have passed the “Quali” will be prepared for the secondary school leaving certificate within two school years.
