On the Paseo de la Costa de Vicente Lopez, last week completed the work of the

first public park

parkour

It has nine walls of two meters each

, and also resistant pipes so that athletes can climb and practice this activity.

Parkour is a physical discipline based on the motor skills of the person who practices it. Athletes are called

traceurs

or

traceuses

and their objective is to

move from one point to another in

the environment in the simplest and most efficient way possible, adapting to the demands and

obstacles

with the help of their body.

Since 2015 there has been a movement of neighbors who practice parkour in

Vicente López

, four years later they presented this initiative to the municipality.

"It is a discipline that has been practiced for a long time around the world and it is not yet included or is not recognized as it should within our society, presenting a project like this generates great support for the activity and the practitioners", commented Marina, Coach and member of the Parkour Movement (MOV) of the SUVA Club

The district Parkour Movement teachers demonstrated discipline.

The park has a dimension of 200 square meters, the nine walls are built on two reinforced concrete stalls with a rubber floor for protection.

It is completely free and for public use.

In addition, the property was decorated with designs simulating Street Art, or street art, among which are drawings based on the Mario Bros video game. The murals were intervened by the artist Pier Daels.

During the tour to see the result of the work, the mayor of the party

Jorge Macri

The instructors performed a demonstration of discipline on the track and while it was set by a DJ.

The communal chief said: "Seeing them enjoying the sport they like the most with such passion confirms that the effort we have been making to beautify the public space is worth it and prompts us to continue on that path."

Regarding the availability of public spaces to carry out this discipline, from the Parkour Movement they commented: “More and more people are practicing parkour, and being something totally urban, the scenarios are nothing more than everything one can find. on the street or in a park ”.

From the commune they expressed that in the property, "surely in the future", there will be competitions and events, in addition, Marina added: "The idea of using the park is to be able to include a little more parkour in people, that is known, is pass on the right way to train.

We have plans to carry out events with workshops, and even take our groups of students to train from time to time, it is also a great tool for people who already practice and specialize in this discipline ”.

Regarding the age to carry out this discipline, the MOV coaches advised: “We specifically recommend classes from the age of four, which we consider to be of great help for the development of the child's psychomotor skills.

Beyond that, we all did parkour without knowing it since we started walking and exploring the world. "

The feeling that Marina generated, like other teachers, of seeing her project finished was “first joy”.

And he continued: “But many other things… gratitude for the people who worked hard and gave everything for which the project was approved.

It makes me happy that a discipline that we have loved and practiced so much for so many years is now a recognized part of society, we hope we can achieve more, I see it as a beginning ”.
