The sudden death of the producer, and artistic director Shmulik (Shmeilech) Bornstein, shortly before Rosh Hashanah, struck the world of culture and the music industry in astonishment.
Today (Friday) a tribute event was held in his memory in Ganei Yehoshua Park with the participation of hundreds of members of the music industry, including Shlomo Artzi and members of his band, Shalom Hanoch, Miki Gavrielov, Aviv Geffen, Yair Nitzani, Yoni Rechter, Peter Roth, Alon Olarchik, Assaf Zamir, Family and friends.
Bornstein's ashtray stood on stage in an exciting ceremony in his honor led by producer Rami Beja.
After presenting a video with interviews with Bornstein over the years, his sister Drora his nieces and nephew mourned him, Dan and Noa Tapuach from the Tapuach family also mourned the producer.
Shalom Hanoch added: "I raise glasses for Bornstein. I do not understand how the world exists without him."
And played and sang "Everything That Lives."
Producer Dana Farber paid tribute to him, Lior Tevet on behalf of the production of Artzi and others, and then the audience stood up in a minute of silence to honor one of the founding fathers behind the scenes in the world of Israeli music.
Bornstein touched many of the great artists and accompanied large projects of music performances from abroad. The late Arik Einstein, Shlomo Artzi and Shalom Hanoch are just a small part of the artists whose performances he directed and produced.
A few days before his death, he still functioned as the technical producer of Shlomo Artzi's appearance in Caesarea, a position he has held for about 35 years.
