On Wednesday, the Austrian Chancellor Kurz presented a three-step plan.

Health Minister Mückstein has now announced what restrictions there will be for unvaccinated people.

Vienna - The number of patients in intensive care units in Austria has recently increased significantly.

The virologist Dorothee Laer of the MedUni Innsbruck therefore warned in an interview with the

ORF

that action was now necessary.

This is the only way to avert a renewed lockdown in Austria.

Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz presented a three-step plan last Wednesday.

According to his idea, there should no longer be a lockdown for vaccinated people.

Now the Austrian Health Minister Mückstein is adding

important details

in an interview with the

Kleine Zeitung

and announcing further restrictions for unvaccinated people.

That is the three-step plan in Austria

The three-step plan of the Austrian government is no longer based on incidence, but on the hospitalization rate. The catalog of measures provides for the first tightening from an occupancy of 200 intensive care beds. Among other things, there is an FFP2 mask requirement for unvaccinated people and the 3G rule for gatherings of 25 or more people. In addition, the regulation provides for a time limit for the validity of the antigen test to 24 hours. Stage one will come into force on September 15, 2021 based on the current figures.

Stage two is reached when 300 intensive care beds are occupied for at least seven days in Austrian intensive care units.

For gatherings with more than 500 people - for example in night clubs - the 2G rule then applies.

Access is then only permitted for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered.

Level three applies from 400 intensive care beds.

This provides for an extension of the access restrictions to other areas.

Then unvaccinated people have to present a PCR test wherever the 3G rule applies.

An antigen test is then no longer sufficient.

Intensive bed occupancy of 500 beds or more: These are the consequences for the unvaccinated

So far the plan has ended at stage three. The Austrian Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein indicated

a further step

towards the

Kleine Zeitung

on Thursday evening. In an interview, Mückstein said that unvaccinated people with an intensive occupancy of 500 beds would have to expect further restrictions. In Austria, this level corresponds to an intensive care unit occupancy rate of 25 percent. Excessive utilization of the intensive care units can mean that emergencies - such as a heart attack or a traffic accident - can no longer be adequately treated.

In concrete terms, this means for those who have not been vaccinated that they will generally no longer be able to go to nightclubs or bars.

The nightlife would then only be reserved for the vaccinated.

In addition, the Minister of Health plans to make tests in Austria chargeable in the future.

The news portal

OE24

describes this “fourth stage” of the government as politically explosive, as the occupancy of over 500 beds will only be achieved after the election in Upper Austria on September 26, 2021.

On the other hand, the rules could save the winter season in Austria.

Restaurateurs had requested concrete measures from the government in advance in order to be able to plan.

"The coming winter season will take place," says Tyrolean chief Günther Platter (ÖVP), who is now optimistic about the new Corona measures.
