The new infections in the district are increasing.

Many return travelers also bring the coronavirus home with them.

It turns out that unvaccinated people in particular become infected.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen - The number of people currently infected with Corona in the district has been rising steadily for some time.

But while many health authorities complain that contact tracking is hardly possible, the Tölzer district office gives the all-clear.

On the other hand, another trend is confirmed: In the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district, too, Corona is developing into a pandemic for the unvaccinated.

Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn warned against this last week.

"90 to 95 percent of Covid 19 patients in intensive care units are not vaccinated," said Spahn.

In the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district, 199 people were infected with Corona on Thursday (as of 2 p.m.).

"Among them are 22 people who were fully vaccinated," says Sabine Schmid, press spokeswoman at the Tölzer district office.

All 22 had "no or only slight symptoms," said the spokeswoman for the authorities.

Currently only 22 vaccinated people among the infected

If you look at the vaccination numbers in the district, progress is still a bit sluggish. As of last Monday, 69,450 first vaccinations had been administered. 66,400 citizens are fully vaccinated. This corresponds to around 52 percent of the total population in the district. In fact, the numbers are likely to be slightly higher because the vaccinations for company doctors are not included. Citizens who are vaccinated outside of the district are also not included in the statistics. And of course there are also many children under the age of 12 living in the district who cannot be vaccinated at all.

The number of infected people has risen steadily in the past few days.

The health department registered up to 30 new infections per day.

"About a quarter of the new infections can be traced back to those who return to travel," says Schmid.

In addition, the delta variant is also spreading here, "which is much more contagious," says Schmid.

However, the lack of restrictions also play a role.

Of course, infected people currently have significantly more contacts than during the lockdown.

As in the previous winter, this large number of contacts brings some health authorities to the limits of what is feasible when it comes to follow-up.

In Tölz this is not yet the case: "Despite the increasing numbers, the health department can still follow up," says Schmid.

Hospital traffic light still on green

The seven-day incidence also curves upwards. A week ago the value was 82.7, on Friday it scratched the 100 mark with 97.5. However, exceeding this value would have no more consequences, as Schmid confirms. Because the incidence as the sole evaluation criterion has been replaced by the Bavarian hospital traffic light. And with a view to hospital admissions and the utilization of the intensive care units with corona patients, it is currently on green. Schmid: "We will only face restrictions again when the hospital traffic light switches to yellow."
