Erding - The Erding Museum at Prielmayerstraße 1 and the Franz Xaver Stahl Museum at Landshuter Straße 31 are open on Sunday, September 12th, for the Open Monument Day with free admission.

This year's nationwide motto of the campaign is: "To be and to appear - in history, architecture and preservation of monuments".


From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors to the Erding Museum are offered fascinating and varied insights into history, art and culture.

In addition to the permanent exhibitions on city history, archeology, art and artists, everyday life as well as bell foundry and loderer crafts, works by Erdingen artist Rudolf L. Reiter and parts of the extensive Corona collection are presented on the photo wall.

The highlight is the recently opened special exhibition “About Kimme und Korn.

The Erdinger Feuerschützen since 1426 ”.

In addition to over 50 historical and modern shooting targets, artistic archery objects can be seen.

In addition, the various historical shooting ranges in the city are clearly shown.

Hot and cold drinks are offered in the museum café.


The following tours take place during the day:

Fascination Archeology: 7,000 years of Erdingen's cultural history in 60 minutes (Harald Krause, Museum Director)

authentic locations: walk to the historic shooting range in Erding (distance about four kilometers with Harald Krause, museum director)

3 p.m .:

Tour of the special exhibition "About Kimme und Korn" (Alois Gabauer, second master rifleman and chronicler of the royal, privileged fire rifle association in Erding)

compact city history: The essence and development of a city (Harald Krause, museum director)

The Franz Xaver Stahl Museum is open from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. In the former residential building, paintings by the two animal painters Franz Xaver Stahl (1901 to 1977) and Johann Georg Schlech (1899 to 1952) can be seen, as well as the original rooms with Stahls salon and studio. In the studio there are animal paintings in "Petersburg hanging", Stahl's last unfinished work is still on the historical easel. The Biedermeier furniture from the construction time of the residential and studio building testify to the 180-year history of the Erdinger community center. Stahl is considered one of the most important animal painters in Germany in the 20th century.


In addition, the private air raid shelter is open; its architecture makes it unique in all of Germany. There are short tours. It is still compulsory to wear a mask (medical masks) during the entire stay in the museum. Furthermore, the 3G rule must be observed as a binding permit for access to the museums.
