Deputy Secretary of the Russian National Security Council Dmitry Medvedev stressed that the United States, through its withdrawal from Afghanistan, has proven the failure of its policy in combating terrorism.
Medvedev said in an article entitled “It is impossible to come up with a democratic miracle from abroad” published today by the “Lenta Row” website, that the withdrawal of the United States from Afghanistan did nothing but increase the effectiveness of terrorist organizations, which still pose, as before, a grave danger to Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East, pointing out that For twenty years, the Americans did not achieve the goal declared by former US President George W. Bush, which is the victory over terrorism in Afghanistan, where terrorists continue to operate there because of the many mistakes made by the United States, including in its policy towards the Middle East.
Medvedev pointed out that the Americans were also unable to defeat the ISIS terrorists present in Afghanistan, considering that the US withdrawal from Afghanistan represents a blatant acknowledgment by Washington of the collapse of its strategy to establish its military and political presence everywhere in the world.
Medvedev said, "The US administration refuses to admit defeat in Afghanistan and has started using formulas to cover up its heavy losses," stressing that the Americans, wherever they are militarily, have always left problems behind.
Medvedev made it clear that Russia is undoubtedly concerned with settling internal Afghan disputes, but the political forces in this country must do so, and this must reflect all spectrums of Afghan society.
Medvedev stressed the importance of deepening cooperation between Russia and the United States in the fight against terrorism, but to achieve this it is necessary to abandon the illusions of exclusivity and self-distinction because no single nation or alliance can solve this issue alone, and we can only eliminate the evil of terrorism through solidarity and cooperation.
