Armin Laschet expressed sharp criticism of the SPD chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz at the CSU party conference in Nuremberg.

Laschet accused his worst competitor in the fight for the Chancellery for inappropriate behavior after the raid in the Federal Ministry of Finance led by Scholz.

With his reaction, Scholz sowed doubts about the rule of law instead of supporting the public prosecutor, said Laschet.

"That helps the populists," said the ailing Union chancellor candidate.

After the search on Thursday, Scholz said that the process could have been settled in writing.

At the CSU party congress, Laschet sought close collaboration with CSU boss Markus Söder.

"I am sure that if we win the election, we will both shape the next few years in Germany in the coalition committee," said Laschet on Saturday during his guest speech in Nuremberg.

"I am looking forward."

In view of the bad poll numbers of the Union, Laschet is under considerable pressure two weeks before the general election.

In the past few days, the CSU had increased the pressure on Laschet and demanded a turnaround from him.

CSU General Secretary Markus Blume said in a SPIEGEL interview on Thursday that the Union would do better in polls with Söder.

The delegates of the CSU party congress welcomed Laschet with long, sustained applause.

Söder called the greeting "euphoric".

"We want you to become Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany," said Söder to Laschet.

In the polls, the CDU and CSU are currently clearly behind the SPD and only come up with values of 20 to 25 percent.

Dobrindt against the Greens

Before that, CSU regional group leader Alexander Dobrindt attacked the Greens at the party congress.

The fight against flights within Europe is "anti-European," he said.

"We want people in Europe to come together." The right way is to develop climate-neutral propellants for aircraft.

Anyone who wants to vote for the Greens in rural areas in Bavaria could "immediately throw the car key into the ballot box".

Dobrindt also advocated the abolition of the solidarity surcharge for certain population groups.

"Soli belongs in the history book of the Federal Republic of Germany for medium-sized businesses," he said.

In particular, he campaigned for the preservation of spouse splitting in tax policy.

Proposals had come from the SPD to delete the splitting of spouses.

At its party congress, the CSU unanimously decided on the executive board's key proposal for an offensive in the final spurt of the election campaign.

With a focus on the decision of fate and the emphasis on conservative topics, the Christian Socials want to leave the polls behind and, in particular, to bind unsettled regular voters to themselves.

"The Bundestag election is a real directional decision for every individual," says the main motion of the party congress in Nuremberg.

Focus on criticism of competition

As in almost all election campaign speeches of the Union, the focus of the motion is the criticism of the main competitors who are fighting for the election victory and the formation of a government: »The consequences of a slide to the left would be devastating.

Even the implementation of individual election goals of the SPD, the Greens and the Left endangers the prosperity of our country.

All citizens would be affected, especially future generations, «it says.

A government without the Union would lead to a debt crisis, tax increases and a loss of security - all core issues that are highly mobilized, especially among regular bourgeois voters.

The CSU strikes in the same direction with its warnings to farmers against an "eco-dictation" and to pensioners against financial losses if the Union loses the election.
