In the midst of the busy schedule of the closing of the campaign, which included tours of all neighborhoods with the first candidate for councilor of the Frente de Todos, Nancy Cappelloni, and the visit of the candidate for deputy Victoria Tolosa Paz,
Fernando Moreira
,
mayor of San Martín
, divided his time between the management and the accompaniment of the applicants.
“It was a campaign that was quite cold.
After two difficult years, people have many problems, with the economic, health and social situation.
There are more and more people who choose the last week,
”Moreira pointed out in a talk with
Clarín
.
The old premise that midterm elections are usually a management evaluation still holds, this year in particular.
“Although they are two years in office, during this time we suffered a pandemic and a global crisis.
I think the case is very atypical because it demands the government but there is also an understanding of the situation ”, he reflects.
Although he is very focused on his daily work at the head of the communal Executive in San Martín - a position he assumed in December 2019, when the re-elected mayor Gabriel Katopodis was appointed Minister of Public Works - he also observes the National and Provincial context, and the meaning that this election has for the political project to which it belongs.
At the end of the campaign, Moreira with the local candidate, Nancy Capelloni and the candidate for deputy, Victoria Tolosa Paz.
“It is basically a national election, in which country models are at stake. Of course, people are also going to evaluate the government of the province and the municipality in each case. What is at stake is to be able to
ratify the objectives of the government of Alberto Fernández
, of Axel in the Province, or the one that touches us in San Martín, with a present state, close to the problems of the people, intervening and generating social organization , accompanying as we did during the pandemic not only those who became ill but also all those who suffered from a social and economic point of view. This represents everything in which we deeply believe ”, Moreira reviews.
The local list with which they are presented this Sunday, in the PASO, in front of an
internal triple of Juntos por el Cambio
, (led by Andrés Petrillo, Ramiro Alonso López and Cristhyan Micucci), was agreed after an intense work between the multiple local Peronist root groups.
It is headed by Nancy Capelloni, current Secretary of Education, Culture and Sports of the Municipality, and wife of Gabriel Katopodis.
“Our list was built on the logic of politics as a collective process, which we have been carrying out in San Martín for a long time.
Of course, the places are few and the expectations are many, but
the fundamental agreements of the electoral alliance
that was generated two years ago
remain,
”adds Moreira.
