The General Company for Drying Onions and Vegetables in the city of Salamiyah in the eastern countryside of Hama started receiving the onion crop from the producers after stopping for several years.
Engineer Basil Al-Hamwi, the director of the company, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the company began receiving salmon onions and iris from the farmers contracting with it from the countryside of the Salamiyah region, and the quantities received in just two days exceeded 70 tons, which heralds a good season, indicating that the plan for receiving came after the formation of a committee at the beginning of the season to receive onions One of the producers who contracted with the company on the 25th of last August, according to which production lines were prepared, with the company’s main steam boilers supplied by military construction, in addition to the supply of engines that help take off.
Al-Hamwi pointed out that the quantity of onions supplied by the farmers contracting with the company is relatively few and is not sufficient to operate the production lines with a high capacity. And at the regular price.
The director of the company explained that since the start of marketing the crop last week until today, the quantities received are good and within the required specifications.
