Holzkirchen - 16 demonstration trains made their way to Theresienwiese on Saturday from the Munich area with bicycles.

The wheel rallies were directed against the International Motor Show IAA (we reported).

Miesbacher ADFC organizer: "Gigantic feeling" with empty streets - goal: more space for cyclists

One of these groups started in Holzkirchen.

“With great success,” says Birgit Hacklinger.

The local representative of the Miesbacher ADFC Association speaks of a "gigantic feeling" on the street.

"It was our goal to make cyclists visible and to show how many of them there are." There is almost never equality for bicycles in road traffic.

"We wanted to draw attention to this lack of space - and we succeeded," says Hacklinger.

The organizer is also more grateful that the group from Holzkirchen was guided to Munich by the police "relaxed and without incidents".

"The officers stayed in the background and were very friendly," stressed Hacklinger.

Radsternfahrt: 160 participants from Taufkirchen - Theresienwiese filled with 20,000 cyclists

The schedule was also adhered to.

ADFC organizer Kick van Walbeek reports: "In Taufkirchen the group had grown to over 160 cyclists." In Ottobrunn, the trains met with those from Rosenheim.

"We went to the meeting point on Theresienwiese with around 20,000 participants."

At the rally there, 5,000 pedestrians joined in, "to announce our demands for climate protection, for the promotion of public transport and bicycle and pedestrian traffic and our rejection of the current IAA concept," says van Walbeek.

Not only cycling demos were planned: The spectrum of activities ranges from cycling rides to “civil disobedience”.

The organizers emphasize their willingness to enter into dialogue.
