Primary elections are a method of candidate selection
, used in various countries, for national elective public offices.
The PASO are "
open
" because it is not necessary to be affiliated with a political party to vote for one of its candidates.
It is open to the entire electorate.
In turn, the primary elections are "
simultaneous
" because on the same day all the groups decide their pre-candidacies jointly.
And, in addition, they are
mandatory
for all citizens entitled to vote.
Many analysts consider the PASO as a great "party intern" as well as a "great national poll" where a political X-ray of Argentina can be obtained. These data not only give conformation to the offers of the dark room of the primaries, but also to the political scene compared to the general ones of November.
