Geretsried - Beate Ruda is hoping for a lot of registrations.

The head of the Geretsrieder Volkshochschule (vhs) and her colleague Karin Biedermann put together a varied program for the autumn-winter semester.

In the new section “Education for Sustainable Development”, for example, there are free online lectures on energy efficiency and heating renewal.

Foreign language courses, professional training courses, self-defense courses and lectures in a digital science program can also be booked.

"Almost all of the 45 language courses can now switch from face-to-face to online lessons or are only offered online," announced Ruda.

Lecturers wanted

On the other hand, it is difficult to use some sports facilities.

For example, it has not yet been determined how many children's swimming and water aerobics courses can be offered in the intercommunal indoor pool that has not yet been opened.

In addition, the vhs is still looking for lecturers for language courses, IT training, gymnastics and school-related learning opportunities.

Since the corona incidence values are now well above the 35 mark again, mouth and nose protection is mandatory in the vhs courses.

According to Ruda, it is currently not foreseeable whether the 3G rule will be introduced, which only allows those who have been tested, vaccinated and recovered to take part in courses.

Presence is important

"We assume that we might lose some participants, but that our regular customers won't break away," said the vhs manager, cautiously optimistic.

Anita Zwicknagl from the Department of Culture considers it important to hold face-to-face events.

The Vhs program booklet, which has a circulation of 23,000 copies, contains an overview of the entire range of courses and a registration form.

Further information is available on the website www.vhs-geretsried.de.

Registrations can be made online by email (vhs@geretsried.de) or on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by calling 08171/52 91 44.

“The socially integrative character of the adult education center should not be underestimated: people want to meet and get to know each other,” believes Zwicknagl.

Ruda and her colleague Karin Biedermann now hope that as many citizens as possible will accept the varied offer.

"With the many courses and events we want to show that we are back." By the way: the legal entity of the non-profit adult education institution is the city of Geretsried.

The vhs office is located in the city library at Adalbert-Stifter-Straße 13.
