In about two weeks, on October 1, a "green class" pilot will begin, in which an attempt will be made to reduce the amount of isolation in schools as a result of exposure to a verified patient in Corona.

The pilot will last between two and three weeks, in 200 elementary school classes in red and orange cities.

Under the outline, only the child found verified will go into isolation, while the rest of the class will undergo rapid tests over the course of a week to rule out that they too have been infected with the virus.

It is not yet clear who will conduct the tests - the Home Front Command, which conducts the weekly PCR tests, teaching staff or "Corona Trustees" in schools.

It should be noted that the criteria, defined by the Ministries of Education and Health, may prove to be too complex and even lead to the failure of the outline.

Only schools in which at least 75% of students' parents have agreed to collect samples from their children will participate in the program.

Last year it was very difficult for Magen Education to reach the threshold in question in many schools.

However, recovering and vaccinated will be included in the potential subjects, but will not be required to participate in the weekly tests, subject to the presentation of a recovery certificate.

The PCR tests will be performed by collecting pens from all the students in the class.

If there is a positive result in the sample, then the whole class will undergo a series of rapid tests, every morning for a week.

The student identified as verified will be sent for isolation.

The class will continue with the study routine, however whenever it is verified it will be sent for isolation.

It was also decided that if 40% of the students are found positive during the week as part of the sampling, or alternatively if 60% are found positive for two weeks in a row - the educational institution's participation in the "Green Class" pilot will be stopped.

The results of the tests will be received by the director of the educational institution online, and not the parents of the students.

Upon receipt of the results, the director of the institution will instruct the students on how to act in accordance with the test results, and will decide whether it is necessary to avoid arriving at the institution of those students or returning to routine.

Since the criteria are strict, there is a chance that at the end of the pilot it will be decided that it is not possible to exempt children who have come into contact with a verifier from isolation, and this is because they are not vaccinated.

Thus, the situation will probably continue until the vaccine is approved for children as well, in the January-February area.
