A tornado knocked over several cars.
Pantelleria - A tornado hit the Italian Mediterranean island of Pantelleria on Friday evening.
There were dead and injured.
Around 7 p.m. the whirlwind hit the northern area of Pantelleria, in the Campobello area, as
reported by
La Repubblica
.
The storm covered roofs and apparently knocked over six cars.
Two people were killed in the storm, the Ansa news agency reported nine injured.

The dead are therefore two residents of the island between Sicily and Tunisia: a pensioner and a firefighter who was not on duty.
So they sat in two different cars and drove down a street.
The storm threw them out of the vehicles and killed them.
A rescuer spoke to
La Repubblica
about an "apocalyptic scene" and explained: "The whirlwind came from the sea and in a few seconds it whirled up houses and cars that were driving along the island's bypass".
An injured man who is being treated at the hospital told
La Repubblica
: “We were suddenly thrown to the side of the road, but luckily the car did not overturn.
We managed to open the doors and sought shelter.
We live by a miracle ”.
However, there is a threat of further storms in southern Italy on Saturday.
The Italian civil protection authority has issued a severe weather warning and warned of strong winds and precipitation.
This weather is also hindering the cleanup work on Pantelleria.
