The singer revealed the shocking revelation about her past rape as a girl in a new documentary about her extensive career • "I tried to complain, but it fell on deaf ears"

Successful Canadian singer Alanis Morissette reveals in a new documentary called Jagged that she was raped when she was 15 years old.

"It took me years of treatment to get to the point where I admit I was a victim," Maurice revealed in the documentary, whose premiere is set to take place tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Toronto International Film Festival.

"I always said it was done with my consent, and then I got a reminder that I was 15. You can't give your consent at 15. Now I say they were all pedophiles. It was rape," said the singer, who was a minor at the time of the rape.

It should be noted that the age of consent then in her native Canada was 14 and is now updated to 16.

Maurice does not name the men who allegedly took part in the rape she allegedly went through, but according to sources in the Washington Post who attended an early screening of the film, she reveals that she told about the rape to several people and it fell on deaf ears.

"It was the kind of moments where people just get up and leave the room," she said.

She also had something to say to all those who clicked their tongues who came out against her claiming that she remembered to complain only now, more than 30 years after the rape.

"A lot of people say why she waited 30 years - and I have only one thing to say to them: 'Go for her **** n'. No one waits 30 years. No one just wanted to listen because it endangered their livelihood or their family ".

Due to Stern's reasons being revealed, Maurice (47) refuses to attend the premiere of the film, which will take place tomorrow, and it is not yet known whether she will take part in its promotion in preparation for its later rise on HBO, which participated in the production of the project.

The film Jagged reviews key milestones in the singer's career, focusing in particular on her most successful album, Jagged Little Pill, which was released in 1995 and the tour that followed.

"I certainly would have been happy if Alanis had come to the premiere," said film director Alison Kleiman.

"It was a privilege to create this film and I am very proud of it. I hope there will be other opportunities where she can take part in events related to the film," she concluded.
