Medical success in Nazareth: A fetus born weighing 500 grams stayed in treatment for 135 days • Current weight: 3.03 kg • The father said: "We fought, every day we reached prematurity"

A medical miracle at the English Hospital in Nazareth.

A 500-gram preterm infant was released from the hospital over the weekend after 135 days of treatment, weighing 3.03 kg. This is six times the weight at which she was born.

The couple - Muhammad, 41, and Azhar, 38 - from Umm al-Fahm, tried for 13 years to have a child, until one of the fertilizations was absorbed with twins.

The pregnancy progressed properly, until in the fourth month Azhar felt unwell and was hospitalized in the English hospital.

After a few weeks she began preterm birth.

The two preterm infants were born in the 23rd week in a very difficult condition.

In similar cases it is customary to perform an abortion, as the chances of the babies surviving are very low.

The twins were born by caesarean section.

"The attending physician gave us only a ten percent chance," Father Muhammad told Israel Today.

Four days later the son died, who weighed twenty grams more than his sister.

"We fought. Every day we reached prematurity. She started gaining weight, and went through all the possible diseases. Now we are happy," Muhammad added.
