First visitors in the new indoor swimming pool: This is how it goes down with the guests

In street clothes and blue overshoes for their shoes, anyone who wanted to was allowed to take a look at the newly opened indoor pool at the weekend.

There was great interest in the tours.

Geretsried - lifeguard Alexander Kissel lightly strokes the red light on the locker with his bracelet.

It already changes color to green and the locker opens.

If you have forgotten your locker number or want to know how much bathing time you have left, you simply scan the ribbon via an information terminal in the changing wing and receive all the data.

Large crowds for public tours

The new intercommunal indoor swimming pool is modern, but easy to use, functional, but visually appealing.

Cozy bathers and families will feel just as comfortable here as sporty swimmers and high divers.

The public tours of the new sports and school pool, which opened on Friday, were very popular at the weekend.

“It was exciting to look behind the scenes,” said Leila Jürgensen (32).

The Wolfratshauserin took part in a tour on Saturday with her niece Natalie (7), her nephew Dominik (4) and grandma Margit Bauer (63).

The children wanted to come to bathe in the first week, they said.

"Then I'll jump off the three-meter board," announced Natalie.

Jürgensen himself is looking forward to swimming.

In Munich, where she previously lived, she often went to the indoor swimming pool.

Every 40 minutes, operations manager Dieter Bunthoff and pool attendant Alexander Kissel showed visitors everything from the cash register with QR code reader for the Luca app to the technology in the basement.

In addition to the individual changing rooms, there are four collective changing rooms for school classes and clubs, some larger family changing rooms and barrier-free cubicles for people with disabilities.

With "Oh" and "Ah" through the swimming pool

Once you have stowed everything away and slipped into your bathing robe - a cap is not required - you can first take a shower.

The sanitary rooms are kept in chic gray with yellow color elements.

The shelves for towels and other items in the entrance area are practical.

Quite a few "Oh" and "Ah" could be heard when entering the main swimming pool.

Large, bright, sparkling clean is the heart of the approximately 19 million euro pool in which the district and the municipalities of Wolfratshausen, Königsdorf, Icking, Münsing, Eurasburg, Egling and Dietramszell have contributed financially.

It was officially opened on Friday.

The competition and swimming pool, which is 25 meters long and 12.5 meters wide, is ideal for extensive swimming sessions.

The two rows of red flags above the lanes are for the back swimmers, explains Alexander Kissel - so that they can see that it is only five meters to the edge of the pool.

The water depth is two meters.

Thanks to a lifting floor, however, it can be reduced to 70, 90 or 120 centimeters in the front area - for non-swimmers, unsafe swimmers and for water aerobics, which some of the visitors are already looking forward to.

Emma and Alfred Eitel (both 79) from Geretsried were regulars in the old indoor pool, as they say.

They are rather unsafe swimmers, so the two native Transylvanians.

Therefore, they are happy about the lifting floor.

Both love to do aqua aerobics.

“That keeps us fit,” said Alfred Eitel.

Like his wife, he would like to have another warm bathing day with a water temperature of over 30 degrees.

On the other hand, they wouldn't miss a sauna.

You can relax after training on the heated, colorfully tiled benches along the window front.

The lifeguard explained the supply and exhaust air system, which always ensures pleasantly warm, fresh air in the hall, always one degree warmer than in the pools with 28 degrees Celsius.

The second pool is the 3.80 meter deep diving pool with one and three meter boards.

Depending on your requirements, the boards can be adjusted to be springy or rigid.

Eleven employees are employed in the indoor swimming pool

Between Hall I with the two sports pools and Hall II with the family area is the office of the operations manager and the other specialist staff for swimming pools, as the swimming masters are correctly called.

Eleven employees currently ensure the well-being and safety of bathers.

The 40 centimeter shallow children's paddling pool is colorful and cheerful.

A small elephant slide, two plastic cats, stools and a fountain await the youngest water rats and their parents.

The walls are painted with ladybirds.

In a separate room there are pool noodles and other water toys.

"Also two or three small attractions ready"

The 80 centimeter deep pool next door for beginners, but also for relaxation, has bubble beds and massage jets.

The temperature here is a pleasant 32 degrees.

“As you can see, we also provide two or three small attractions in the rather simple school and sports pool,” said Alexander Kissel.

Seven-year-old Natalie would have loved to try the bubbling bubble lounger.

Christine Haynes (63) from Waldram took a look at the new indoor pool with granddaughter Amber.

She likes it optically, she said.

She thinks it makes sense that the surrounding municipalities are working together: “Not everyone needs their own small bathroom.” The only disadvantage for the passionate swimmer: Haynes would like more public bathing times, especially in the morning.

But schools and clubs have numerous appointments, which is understandable.

An insight into the complex technology of the bathroom, the "core" of the house, as Kissel called it, will probably not be seen again anytime soon. The visitors were impressed by the many pipes, switches and levers that guarantee the hygiene of the bathing water. In Geretsried it is only cleaned with sand filters. “The water is in constant circulation for 24 hours,” explained the lifeguard. A sophisticated system is used to add chlorine and other chemicals to maintain a constant pH value. The temperature in the pool is regulated by a heating system.

When asked by a senior citizen whether there would be a hot bathing day like in the old indoor pool, Kissel had to answer in the negative.

As a farewell, the participants in the tours received bright yellow bath ducks and an entry voucher for one and a half hours.

You can redeem it on Tuesday.

Official swimming starts on September 14th.

The 3G rule applies.

Opening times and prices are available on the Internet at www.hallenbad-geretsried.de.
