Geneva-Sana
Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Gennady Gatilov, today warned of the danger of terrorists infiltrating from Afghanistan into neighboring countries.
“We are concerned about the possibility of terrorist and extremist elements infiltrating the territories of countries neighboring Afghanistan, especially in Central Asia, and the international community, especially the traditional Western partners of Kabul, should provide effective assistance to the population of this country to limit the flows of Migration or stop it completely.
He added, "The concern is caused by the social and economic tension in Afghanistan, which has been exacerbated by the Corona pandemic and other things, and we believe that in such circumstances the international community must work together and not transfer responsibility for the situation from one side to another," stressing that humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan and post-conflict reconstruction They have priority at the moment.
Gatilov noted that Afghanistan is traditionally one of the recipients of Russian humanitarian aid, including through the United Nations and, in particular, in the period 2018-2021 through the World Food Program.
The activities of the Geneva Conference to support humanitarian operations in Afghanistan were launched today with wide international participation to intensify relief operations in Afghanistan after the extremist Taliban movement took control of power.
