An indictment was filed in the Haifa District Court today (Monday) against Georgy Zalkov, 61, a resident of Haifa, for aggravated murder in August of Dimitri Jungrov, 41, a homeless man who lived in his home.

At the same time, a request was submitted to extend his detention until the end of the legal proceedings against him.

According to the indictment, Zalkov, who worked as a security guard at Carmelit in Haifa, kept a gun in his apartment, and since March, when his wife, Yelena, went on a family visit to Russia, he lodged Jungrov in his apartment and even gave him a key to the apartment.

In July, when Yelena returned, and when it became clear to her that her husband had housed Jungrov in the apartment, she moved in with her friend in another apartment in Haifa, and asked him to arrange for the guest to leave the apartment.

On the morning of the murder, at 9:00, Georgi Zalkov and his wife went to pray at a church in Haifa.

Later, around 10:00, the two drove to the apartment.

Zalkov asked Milena to wait for him outside the building, while he went up to the apartment to work for Jungrov's evacuation.

The defendant entered the apartment and began to confront Jungrov regarding living in the apartment. According to the indictment, during the argument, Zalkov took the gun out of the safe, put a cartridge in it, put it through and put it under a pillow in his bed.

While Jungrov was sitting on the bed, Zalkov stood up, pulled out the gun, pinned the barrel to the center of Jungrov's forehead and offered to pray before firing at him. After Jungrov replied that he did not wish to pray, Zalkov fired in the center of Jungrov's forehead from zero range, with the intention of causing his death, which resulted in his fatal injury and later his death.

According to the prosecution, after shooting Youngrow, Zalkov placed a knife he had taken from the kitchen on the floor near where the former was lying on the bed, to present a false representation that the latter had threatened him with a knife before firing. It was further alleged that although Jungrov was dying, Zalkov refrained from ordering the rescue forces.

In addition, after the shooting, Zalkov informed his wife that he had shot him, and sent her photos from the scene.

It was only after more than 8 minutes, after she had pleaded with him, that he called the police station and reported that he had shot Youngbrow.
