Great success for the Israeli teams in the European Surfing Championships • In the iQFoil model two gold medals, one for Mika Kafri (up to age 19) and the other for Tamar Steinberg (under 17)

Successes in the new surfboard model, iQFoil Foil, continue to arrive.

Mika Kafri from the Mikhmoret sailing club, finishes the European Under-19 Championship with the gold medal, after a close competition.

Kafri did lead throughout most of the competition, but started the last day of cruises when she is a few points behind the Czech surfer.

Two perfect cruises, in which she finished in first place, closed the competition and secured her the gold medal, with her winning by a difference of 4 points in total. This is the second medal of Kafri in the new model, after the bronze medal at the World Championships about two months ago.

"There was a great competition" Kafri said upon leaving the water, "I knew the second place was very close to me and it was a bit stressful, but I'm really glad I managed to beat the last two cruises and bring the medal home."

In the younger age category (up to 17), too, complete Israeli control of Tamar Steinberg, who wins the gold medal.

Steinberg's victory, from the Sdot Yam club, is very significant, as she did not drop a single point, as she finishes all the cruises of the competition in first place.

Steinberg is also the world champion in the model for 2021.

In the younger categories (up to age 15), Kfir Geffen won the silver medal and Maya Barel Bard.

At the same time, the European Championships (seniors and youth) in Kate Foyle surfing were held in Croatia, where Brazilian Yoav won a bronze medal in youth.

The Brazilian maintained stability throughout the competition, finishing all cruises in the top ten, but could not for the Poles and Russians, who dominated the competition from the first moment.

Also in the senior championship, an impressive achievement for surfers Mia Ashkenazi and Gal Zuckerman, who qualified for the semifinals and finished in 7th and 13th places respectively.

Shai Buber, chairman of the Israel Sailing Association:

"Excellent results to build at the European Championship in youth foil models. The transition to the foil model requires the purchase of equipment and this is a great challenge for sailing clubs.
