Moran Mesika-Eidelman Appointed Director of Athena | Israel today

The Wingate Institute Corporation Corporation has approved the appointment of Mesika-Eidelman to the position of director of the Center for the Advancement of Women's Sports at the Institute.


The Wingate Institute Corporation Corporation has approved the appointment of Moran Mesika-Eidelman as Director of Athena, the Center for the Advancement of Women's Sports at the Wingate Institute.

For the past year, Meirav Oleinik has served as acting director, following the retirement of Omrit Janilov in early 2020.

Mesika-Eidelman was selected by the Wingate Institute's locating committee, headed by Wingate Institute CEO Shai Avrahami, CFO Penny Drori, director of the Achievement Sports Unit, Danny Oren, and Sports Director at the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Ofer Bustan, who served as an observer on the committee.  

Mesika-Eidelman (41) has held senior positions in the field of sports over the years;

As the director of the sports department at Maccabi Israel and as the acting chairman of the gymnastics association. In the past, she managed the sports department at a directions company in the Beer Sheva municipality, and was an athletic athlete in the past.

She holds a bachelor's degree in management and political science from Tel Aviv University, and a master's degree in policy and leadership in education.

She is also a graduate of a directorship course from the Israeli Center for Management.

Beyond that, she is a board member of the Israeli Olympic Committee, a board member and acting chair of the Gymnastics Association, as well as a board member of the Athletics Association and the Handball Association.

Athena, the Center for the Advancement of Women's Sports at the Wingate Institute, aims to create social change in sports culture in Israel;

Increase women's involvement in sports, from school age to achievement level.

Athena has multi-year professional programs and aims to create opportunities for girls, teenagers and women in sports, in designated programs in sports associations and sports bodies, programs in authorities, associations and sports clubs.

Athena promotes the establishment and specialization of the avenue of female management in sports and achievements in the competitive arena.
