Opinion | Keep fiddling, there are things you will not see Israel today

The Corona is still here, what is the problem with relying on the integrity of the public and deciding on the continuation of the compensation outline? • And the more difficult question: Where is the big media outcry?

I'm about to do something here that will not be done: put my financial-private problem on the pages of the newspaper.

I allow myself to drive yes, both because the problem is not entirely private and also because of the conclusion I draw following the flood.

For a year and a half I have had a complex and challenging economic and professional life. Like all the people of Israel, I too was closed and isolated and distant, and found myself tucked between the screen and the kitchen for many months. Unlike all the people of Israel, most of my work cannot be done remotely or from home. I find most of my work in performances and lectures. We, the stage artists, were almost the first to get into this situation and almost the last to get out of it, naturally. Stand-up shows and lectures on the media and Israeli society - although I believe in their tremendous healing abilities - are not yet defined as a vital need, and rightly so.

I survived all this difficult time, like many others, with dignity and even ease, thanks to the support of the state. Corona compensation was not at the rate I had earned earlier, but with the addition of some remote work income and milling of savings - they managed to put us all on our feet. I have already written here that they thought without reason, were carefully divided and conducted in exemplary order. My situation, like that of many others, is quite clear: thanks to the compensation we survived. Were it not for the compensation - we would have been in a difficult problem.

Hence the question: the corona is still here, on its way. My income cycle and that of all the artists and people who make a living from a variety of cultural and leisure industries - in the land. I open each morning with a series of cancellations due to isolations and verifications and rules and characters. In many respects, nothing has changed between the current situation and the situation about six months ago, except for one thing: the corona compensation - which was determined in advance to be distributed by the end of June - was discontinued. Can anyone explain why? It is true that most sectors of the economy have returned to almost normal functioning, but not all; After all, corona compensation is in any case divided according to a clear criterion of a decrease in turnover. What is the problem with deciding on the continuation of the compensation outline, relying on the public's integrity, and hoping that only those who deserve compensation will receive it? What is the logic of suddenly preventing a cure for a disease that is still functioning?

And the harder question: Where is the great cry?

After all, cultural, leisure and media people are the residents of the backyard of the press.

Matters pertaining to them are usually, naturally, given a shortcut to the headlines.

The reality described above is injustice and folly.

Where is the media outcry?

At least there is a good answer to this question.

No cry will come, and no cry will rise.

The spawning media is busy marking the coming days upon us favorably in the elaborate etrog mission.

There is no chance of loud criticism of the government, even on issues about which a year ago they would have printed special issues and opened editions.

It is difficult to imagine any issue that would cause the mainstream in the old media to turn its face against this government in its current composition, let alone the issue in which it excelled in favor of the previous government.

In those days, well, there is no media in Israel.
