The

Pfizer vaccines

that arrived in the country last week, following the agreement of the national government with the US laboratory, will begin to be used by the City from

this Tuesday

.

They will be aimed at people who started the vaccination

schedules

with

Sputnik V

and have expired the period of twelve weeks initially stipulated.

At the same time, this Monday, vaccines from the

Cansino laboratory

were applied for the first time

.

It is a single dose.

18,522 turns

were awarded

, while another 1,000 doses of Sinopharm and AstraZeneca were given to complete schematics.

The Buenos Aires Ministry of Health chose to

use Pfizer vaccines

, which were the subject of an extensive and controversial negotiation with the national government, to apply second doses to

those who have the first component of Sputnik V.

The Pfizer immunizer is made with technology of

Messenger RNA

, like that of

Moderna

, which was already used by the Capital as a second dose of Sputnik, after having been tested in volunteers and showing a positive response in terms of the generation of antibodies against the coronavirus.

Since Pfizer's is also approved for

use in adolescents,

jurisdictions can choose the destination of the vaccines.

And the City chose to apply them to those over 18 years of age.

The national government distributed 100,620 vaccines.

The Capital usually receives between 6 and 7 percent of the lot.

For that, he

received 7,000 doses.

In the City, vaccines from Pfizer and Cansino are already being applied for the first time.

"Being above 50% with the second dose, and taking into account what has happened in other countries of the world, with the Delta variant it happened that infections

increase

but

serious diseases or hospitalizations or deaths do not significantly increase"

, said the Buenos Aires minister Fernán Quirós, who toured the Costa Salguero vaccination center with the head of Government, Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, and added: "It is the first objective we are looking for: if there is an increase in infections, that the porteños do not suffer it in a significative way".

At the same time, the national government reported that 1,417,165 will be distributed throughout the country between this Monday and Wednesday.

Among them are 399,680 from CanSino, 760,625 from Sputnik V Component 2 and 156,240 from Moderna.

Since December 29, when the nationwide vaccination campaign began,

2,173,721 people have

received at least one dose of the Sputnik-V, Sinopharm or AstraZeneca vaccines.

While

1,614,286 completed the immunization

with the second component.

Thus, more than 54% of the City's population completed the immunization scheme against COVID-19.

While 72% of the neighbors received at least the first dose.

For those who have not yet been vaccinated, registration is online and remains open at buenosaires.gob.ar/vacunacovid.
