After Armin Laschet, Markus Söder is also sharply attacking coalition partner SPD.
The historical role of the party remains at the center.
Munich / Berlin - Armin Laschet * once again allowed himself a faux pas in his speech at the CSU party congress - and sharply criticized coalition partner SPD.
It said: "In all the decisions in post-war history, social democrats were always on the wrong side." For this, the Union's candidate for chancellor received criticism afterwards - and was referred to as #RheinlandTrump, among other things.
Now Markus Söder * has further fueled the debate.
The CSU boss told the Augsburger Allgemeine: “The fact is: whether it was linked to the West, joining NATO and the founding of the Bundeswehr under Konrad Adenauer and Franz Josef Strauss” - the SPD was “against”.
The Social Democratic Party also opposed the European Stability Pact and instead preferred a debt union in Europe.
Bundestag election: Söder praises Laschet - "a lot of truth" about SPD criticism
Söder further praised Laschet's criticism: There was "a lot of truth" about that.
In addition, the reaction of the SPD * to the criticism was "very thin-skinned", emphasized the CSU boss in an interview.
SPD General Secretary Lars Klingbeil commented on Laschet's statements on Twitter, for example: "Under Laschet, the Union has really lost decency and dignity."
