The pilot who last saw Haim Gron, who was killed along with his wife in a crash in Greece, told Israel Today that his plane suffered an oil leak • "I have never heard of a case of a plane that did not reach its destination in this way," the man told

Haim Garon and his wife were killed today (Tuesday) in a light aircraft crash in Greece, now revealing a pilot who saw Garon a few minutes before taking off that he looked "tired" and that he begged him not to fly.

"Haim messed with a lot of things before takeoff. He was supposed to get to Samos, and because of the leak he delayed takeoff. He cleaned the oil, took more oil with him and changed the flight path. He got tired, I told him to think again if it was right for him to fly in such a situation. "Unusual things before this flight and he would have looked tired," the pilot told Israel Today, who asked to speak anonymously.

The pilot explained that Garon's plane apparently suffered from an oil leak, and said: "I saw Haim landing in Haifa with this oil leak, he was sure the opening was open and that's why the oil was leaking, it happens occasionally."

The pilot noted that this was a very unusual incident in his opinion and said: "I estimate that it did not crash due to an engine failure. Usually, when there is an engine failure there is an option to land the plane at sea and not crash it like that, there is rescue equipment and it is a very exceptional case. Of an airplane that did not reach its destination in this way. The area where it crashed is an area with a lot of winds and it started to get dark when it got there. ".

Haim Gron, a senior figure in the field of electricity in Israel, and his wife Esther left for a flight from Haifa yesterday afternoon, when the accident occurred around 7:45 PM over the sea, near the island of Samos.

Greek naval rescue forces located and rescued the dead and a notice was given to the family.

The Israeli Consulate in Athens and the Department for Israelis Abroad in the Consular Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will accompany the family in Israel and assist in bringing the couple for burial in Israel.

Gron is one of the 300 prosecution witnesses in the Netanyahu trial as part of the 4000 case. He previously served as deputy director of engineering at the Ministry of Communications.
