Roland Keil's flowers are nice to look at and have even received awards.
But they seem to be a thorn in the side of some neighbors.
Unterföhring
- Roland Keil carefully and lovingly cherishes and cares for his splendor of flowers on the balcony at Föhringer Allee 61. But now, at the owners' meeting of residential unit 109, a discussion is to be held about whether the plants need to be removed again.
And all because some neighbors complained.
"Someone tries hard and everyone just complains," says the 69-year-old.
He put a lot of effort into his flowers and even won second place in the local flower decoration competition.
Unterföhring selects "particularly effective and exemplary flower arrangements, which primarily serve to beautify the townscape".
People with particularly beautiful window or balcony flower decorations can take part in the competition.
There were two or three residents of the complex who were bothered by his magnificent flower balcony, says Roland Keil.
Some of the residents were so doggedly about his flower boxes that "one of them even traced the property meetings back to 1994 in order to come up with a possible resolution against flower boxes".
There has not yet been such a decision.
"I'm just a flower lover"
The residents, who Keil also calls "House Mafia", have complained anonymously to the property management company Ries Immobilien and want to remain anonymous, as a letter from property manager Bernd Müller shows - but Roland Keil already knows who is behind the complaints. He does not understand the motivation, however, because the reasons given, his flowers are dripping and there is a risk of something falling, are just pretexts for him. “I don't know what people think about it. Nothing can fall down and it doesn't drip all the time, ”says Keil. The drain holes in the boxes are blocked and everything is secured with straps. He even now always pours after 10 p.m. so as not to disturb.
So it is difficult to understand that someone is actually bothered by the colorful splendor of flowers, which beautify everyone's view.
Most of the residents would, however, appreciate his commitment to plants.
“The people across the street are happy and tell me: You did a great job.” Roland Keil does not want to be discouraged by the criticism and does not want to beautify the community in the future: “I am simply a flower lover.
I have already planted another piece of meadow in Unterföhring.
