Russian President Vladimir Putin went into solitary confinement today (Tuesday) after some members of his inner circle became infected in Corona, the Kremlin said, making it clear that the president had been tested and exposed to the virus. He was twice vaccinated with the local Sputnik 5 vaccine, and received his second dose in April.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Putin was "completely healthy," but he would go into isolation after coming into contact with a virus patient. He did not make clear how long Putin would remain in isolation, but promised that the president would continue to work as usual. When asked if Putin came out negative in the test, Peskov replied "absolutely, yes." He did not say which of Putin's associates fell ill in Corona, but only said there were a few cases.
The Kremlin's announcement came after a phone call between Putin and the President of Tajikistan, which he was scheduled to attend and attend a security forum later this week.
Instead, he will appear in it in a video call.
Yesterday, the President of Russia participated in several public events.
He congratulated the Russian Paralympic athletes, participated in military exercises with Belarus and met with Syrian President Bashar Assad.

During a meeting with the Paralympic athletes, Putin noted that he may have to go into quarantine soon.
"Even in my circle there are problems with this corona," Putin said, according to the official RIA news agency.
"We need to check what's really going on there. I think I might have to quarantine myself soon. A lot of people around (me) are sick."
Asked why Putin continued to attend public events yesterday, even though he already knew some of his associates had fallen ill, Peskov noted that the decision to go into solitary confinement was made after "the doctors completed their examination and procedures."
