The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Environmental Protection reported today (Tuesday) on unusual water sampling results performed to examine the state of pollution in streams in the north of the country and informed hikers and local authorities that entering these streams could be dangerous.
The announcement of the unusual results in the water sampling went out to the traveling public and to the regional and local councils. Tests for bacteria samplings September 13 were the number of streams in North results that exceed the recommendations of the Ministry of Health (400 E.Coli 100 ml) - a result that indicates the presence of contamination in water.
In view of these results, the following streams entrance can be dangerous, until the results of the sampling considered will be the integrity and stability:
• Snir (Hazbani) - Roman bridge (Lebanon border) to meet with Jordan.
• Jordan - to bridge jumper Eric Joseph.
• Jilabun - waterfall bee to meeting with Jordan.
• Jewish - a Jewish waterfall.
• Zaki - to the Sea of Galilee.
• Magrasa - up to the Sea of Galilee.
Hexagons - The Hexagon Pool.
• Nahal El Al - to Nahal Semech and from there to the Sea of Galilee.
• Banias - Kfar Szold Bridge to the junction with the Jordan.
Nahal Zalmon - Carob Pool and Flour Mill.
• Nahal Kaziv - Ein Tamir and Ein Haredlit pool.
Apart from Nahal Snir, where high values were already measured at the point of entry into Israel, the Ministry of Environmental Protection did not find a known source of pollution in the other streams. The tests in the streams in the north are performed from a sample once every two weeks, at fixed sampling points representing a waterfall, pond or section of the river, through the inspectors of the Nature and Parks Authority.
The Ministries of Health and Environmental Protection continue to sample and monitor, and will update later as needed.
