The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, reported on Monday night that they will vaccinate children between 6 and 11 years old against covid-19.
According to the president, the appointment can be requested online, on the website enabled since the vaccination began last February.
In the portal, parents or guardians are the ones who have to register their data to schedule the date and place of immunization of minors.
“Scientific evidence has been the basis for all the decisions we have made.
We have a solid vaccination strategy and it will continue to do so, ”Francisco Alabí, El Salvador's Minister of Health, said in a tweet.
The authorities did not explain if there will be a specific vaccine for children or will apply those that are available.
CNN consulted the Ministry of Communications about it, but has not yet received a response.
According to the Ministry of Health, El Salvador has the Sinovac, Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines.
It has a total of 11,700,530 doses, according to a statement from the presidency, which were obtained through direct purchases and donations.
The report highlights that until last Friday El Salvador had applied 6,892,912 vaccines, of which 3,818,524 were first doses and 3,074,388 second.
