Hong Kong Airlines flight HX246 departed for Shanghai Pudong at 1 pm today. About half an hour after the flight, the Hong Kong Airport Authority and Hong Kong Airlines received a report of a bomb. They immediately turned back to Hong Kong International Airport and landed safely at about 4:30 pm .
The police said the case was classified as a bomb intimidation case.
This incident is the second time in a week that a flight has received bomb threats for the second time in a row after the "fraud" on a Cathay Pacific flight to Beijing last Saturday (11th).

Hong Kong Airlines flight HX246 departed for Shanghai Pudong International Airport at about 1 pm today (14th).
The police said that after the flight took off, at about 2 pm, they received a report from the Airport Authority that someone reported that there was a bomb on the aircraft in an email. At the same time, someone left the same message in the Hong Kong Airlines chat room.
The flight immediately returned to Hong Kong International Airport. No bomb was found on the flight after a search. The case was classified as a bomb intimidation.
Hong Kong Airlines said that flight HX246 was carrying 56 passengers and crew. At 2:06 pm, about 30 minutes after takeoff, it was notified by the ground that there was a suspected threat to flight safety.
To ensure the safety of passengers and crew, the flight decided to turn back and land at the Hong Kong International Airport at 4:24 pm.
After a thorough inspection of all passengers, luggage and aircraft, the flight took off at 8:48 pm to continue to its destination.
Hong Kong Airlines stated that it has notified the relevant authorities of the incident and will cooperate with the investigation.
The AA stated that it was reported that there was a bomb on the HX246 that had departed at about 2 pm today, and the agency immediately notified the police and airlines.
The flight returned to Hong Kong and landed safely at 4:33 pm. The operation of the airport was not affected.
