“Reading is beautiful, reading aloud is more beautiful!” This motto applies on September 16 at Max-Mannheimer-Platz in front of the main library, when the magical hairdresser and reading ambassador Danny is a guest in Dachau.
Children, adolescents and adults are cordially invited to come over and have their hair styled in exchange for reading aloud. Everyone can take their time and choose the right story to read aloud; each haircut lasts as long as it takes to read aloud. Spectators and listeners are also very welcome.
With his playful reading promotion campaign BOOK A LOOK_and read my book, Danny Beuerbach travels all over Germany - in public places, in the lively shopping streets, libraries, bookshops or at festivals and fairs and even in parks and on meadows under the open sky, he builds his pop-up Hairdressing salon and invites you to read aloud and talk about books. A hairdressing salon has always been a place of social exchange - and hairdressers quickly establish contact and trust with people. This bond and the open atmosphere are also ideal for reading (aloud).
Danny Beuerbach completed his training as a hairdresser and worked worldwide in renowned salons and as a guest hairdresser at photo shoots, magazines and fashion shows.
He is currently working as a freelance hairstylist, promoting reading and organizing events.
His appearance in Dachau takes place at the end of the reading bingo campaign “Summer on the Reading Meadow” organized by the city library, in which various reading impulses were set - sometimes reading a book and making yourself comfortable in the hammock, sometimes reading to your cuddly toy, times give a book tip in the circle of friends.
In bad weather, the campaign takes place in the event room of the city library.
