The body of a deceased newborn baby was found Monday evening in the trash of a train at Saint-Charles station in Marseille, we learned from a police source.

An investigation was opened by the Marseille prosecutor's office, which seized the departmental security minors' brigade, added the same source, confirming information from the local channel BFMTV Marseille.
Contacted by AFP, SNCF confirmed the discovery of the body, without wishing to communicate further because "held by the seal of the investigation". The train in which the body was found was arriving from Lille, according to corroborating sources.
