A new book written by journalist Bob Woodward ostensibly reveals how the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Millie, and the president's security advisers conspired to deny him access to U.S. nuclear weapons, on suspicion that he was mentally unstable.
According to the book, Millie was surprised by the hacking incidents of Trump supporters after his election loss and "was sure Trump was in a mental crisis following the election results, when he was in a mania situation, screaming at executives and building an alternate reality in his head where election results were fake."
It was also reported that the Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff held a secret meeting at the Pentagon in which he instructed his subordinates not to allow a president to use the United States' nuclear weapons without his clear approval, because he suspected the president was "out of control."
During the meeting, Millie told his aides "I do not know what will be the trigger for the president and what will be his breaking point."
Miley warns his people not to accept orders from the president unless he is involved.
"No matter what you are told, you will follow the established procedure. You will do the process, and I am part of that process."
According to the book, what convinced Millie was a conversation with Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who scolded him and told him he had to protect the country from the president. “You saw what he was capable of doing.
You know he's crazy, "Pelosi told Miley.
During the break-in to the Capitol, supporters of President Trump sowed unprecedented destruction in the legislature building and called for calls to hang the vice president. One police officer and four civilians were killed in the riots, which have become the scene of the worst political violence in the United States in decades.
