It is still unclear why a Tesla Model S plaid in the USA started to burn shortly after it was launched.
Because an important component got stuck, the driver only barely got away with his life.
Pennsylvania - Since Tesla launched the superlative e-sports car, the Plaid S has dominated the headlines.
Among other things, the competition for the Porsche Taycan S caused a sensation. For example, there was a curious dragster race in the USA, while at the same time the two manufacturers were competing for the fastest electric sports car.
Meanwhile, the American electric car maker is struggling with bad news.
Reports of a mysterious series of accidents in which the Tesla autopilot repeatedly caused collisions with stationary cars came to the public only recently.
There were also accidents, some of them serious.
Tesla: Model S plaid starts to burn shortly after launch
As
auto24.de
reports *, the Model S Plaid driver Ben Meiselas now experienced a real nightmare.
His e-sports car went up in flames during the first drive.
The Tesla customer from the US state of Pennsylvania climbed unsuspectingly into his 1,020 PS strong, around 127,000 euro e-sedan when the e-car started to burn shortly after take-off.
Within a very short time the car was ablaze.
Why the Tesla started to burn is still unknown.
However, Meiselas describes further details of his horror journey on his Twitter account.
So he tried to leave the burning vehicle immediately - but the door could not be opened.
According to his lawyer, Mark Geragos, the electric door lock blocked and Meiselas locked in the hell of flames.
As

further describes, the Tesla driver only managed to escape from his Model S plaid at the very last second.
Tesla: US traffic safety agency intervenes
Geragos, Meisela's lawyer, then asked Tesla not to sell the Model S plaid until the cause of the accident had been clarified. After all, his mandate had to have a “horrific and appalling experience”. In the meantime, the US traffic safety authority, NHTSA, got involved. This will now have to determine the exact cause of the fire and decide what consequences Tesla has to draw from the burning Model S plaid. After all: Meiselas luckily got away without serious injuries.
