The first Nissan Qashqai, was one of those that benefited from the growth of the leisure category.
Looks like he's been there almost from the beginning, enjoying significant sales of the growing semantics.
Over the years, competition and supply have increased and its attractiveness has waned.
Now comes a new, up-to-date, modern generation that speaks the right language.
The change is very easy to see already in static mode, with an exterior design that marks V on all the necessary sections.
The cabin has also undergone a makeover and it feels handsome, high quality and technological.
Even more spacious, thanks to the growth of the length and width dimensions, the new Qashqai is more spacious than its predecessor and this is felt mainly in the second row of seats.
Senior version
The version we used is the most equipped 'Techna', including combined leather seats, peripheral cameras, etc.
It is also equipped with a nice 19-inch hoop and these charge a comfortable price.
The stiffer calibration, from what we remember in the previous generation, is expressed in the comfort of non-eloquent driving on a bumpy urban road.
On the same road there is also a chirp from the windshield frame.
With the said hoops it was further emphasized.
On the other hand this calibration shows significantly better road customs than before.
Rolling angles are few, the steering wheel is faster and more accurate, so the whole behavior is obedient and safe.
And speaking of safety, the new Qashqai offers a complete arsenal of advanced safety systems (already from the base version) including adaptive cruise control, autonomous braking and lane departure correction.
The latter relies on the action of the brakes (and not on the steering wheel) and its action is not round and consistent enough.
When it comes to propulsion, the Qashqai uses the concern's supercharged 1.33L engine.
Power is 156 hp and power is transmitted to the front wheels through a continuous gearbox.
Boxes of this type do not always excel in refinement or natural action but the one here, closely mimics the action of a standard planetary box.
The resulting performance is quite vigorous in the legal speed range and fine choice.
Above those the feeling is a bit elastic and heavy.
Fuel consumption on the test days was 12.3 km / l.
What is needed
Finally, a recommendation.
Since all trim levels offer full safety harness and respectable comfort harness, we would give up the senior version and settle for one of the two cheaper versions.
These offer better value and on the way abandon the large rims that impair comfort.
With smaller-diameter rims and higher-cut tires, Qashqai’s ride comfort on uneven urban paving may improve.
Beyond that - Nissan returned to Qashqai the ability to stand in front of the category leaders and thus succeeded in its mission.
For us it means a spacious cabin, an improved driving experience and more attention to the small details (improved field of view for example).
For the other competitors in this category, it means that there is another worthy representative here to battle on her head.
