The exhibition of antiques and heritage opened today in Dummar Central Incubator for Traditional Arts of the General Union of Craftsmen in Damascus, entitled “Syria, History and Civilization,” which will last for ten days.

The exhibition included several pavilions containing places for displaying the products of traditional craftsmen, such as installation and extraction of perfumes, tanning, folk crafts, inlaying on wood with mother of pearl, inlaying copper, old handicrafts of straw, natural silk, embroideries, handbags, wooden musical instruments, leather, pottery, medicinal herbs, and various products of clothing produced by a special section in the incubator working in it. war wounded.

Head of the Craftsmen Union, Naji Al-Hadawa, said in a statement to SANA that the exhibition came within the union’s program and plan aimed at promoting traditional professions with the aim of increasing production and interest in traditional and heritage crafts and developing the craft product to keep pace with modern developments in terms of technology and technology, pointing out that these specialized exhibitions are an opportunity to market products to craftsmen.

Louay Sheko, director of Dummar Central Incubator, stated that this is the first specialized exhibition held by the incubator, which includes all the incubator’s trainers, in addition to creators from the governorates of Damascus and its countryside, Hama, Tartous, and Sweida, pointing to the work on rehabilitating the craftsman so that he can develop himself, import his raw materials and market his product.

Participant Munira Al-Nabwani indicated that this is her first participation through dried fruits made in a new way, free from preservatives or artificial materials, and made in an old way inherited from our ancestors.

Participant Mona Abu al-Khair said: I work with straw and bamboo, because that brings us back to the past days, and I try to transfer this craft from large workshops to working in homes, as I taught it to many women in their homes. Craftsmen from each other and we will make courses for those who want to work and learn our craft.

Visitor Omar Al-Nairbi stated that the exhibition is an opportunity to take care of craftsmen and encourage them to continue and develop their crafts permanently.

Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, expressed in a statement on the sidelines of the exhibition's opening, her happiness with this exhibition and the valuable assets that are displayed in it, indicating that by viewing the exhibits, she felt that Syria contains hidden pearls that no one in the world can defeat and said that any country has this amount. Of belonging and love for handicrafts that simulate the land and soil and history will remain rooted like the ancient history of Syria.

Shaaban called for the necessity of assisting the participants and seeking to market their important and rare products, pointing out that it will be the supporting hand for the craftsmen in everything, because these crafts represent a Syrian identity, alerting that terrorism was its main goal to strike those creators in the loom, brocade and other traditional crafts that we inherited from our ancestors. It should be developed and developed, stressing that Syria grows and stands firm with its children, their works and their creativity.
