“The community is proud to have such clubs in town.” With this sentence, Mayor Markus Huber made it clear what importance he attaches to SC Huglfing and GTEV D'Werdenfelser Huglfing.

The clubs finally celebrated their anniversaries on Sunday.

Huglfing

- "This is where a village community arises, values are conveyed and traditions cultivated," Huber praised the two anniversaries in front of numerous traditional costumes, athletes and guests in the rectory garden.

Actually, it should have been a big one-week festival in summer: 100 years of the D'Werdenfelser mountain costume preservation association, and at the age of 101, the Huglfing Sports Club 1920 would have joined the celebrations.

However, the SC had to cancel the festive days that were already firmly organized last year due to the pandemic.

But Corona still stood in the way of the big festival this year.

At the beginning of June, those responsible under the chairmen Josef Sepp and Bernhard Kößler agreed on an open-air service with memorials for the dead in September.

Small but worthy celebration

The small but worthy celebration on Sunday began with the Schubert mass: flag delegations from the two anniversary and friendly associations had lined up on the long side of the historic parish barn, at the rear exit of the rectory the altar stood under a 100 woven from plants, next to it the music band Huglfing placed.

Pastor Thomas John Mukalayil said in front of the worshipers who were sitting on beer benches and standing in the garden that the two associations had “carried and accompanied people like faith”.

Like belief, costume and leotard are “a sign of where you belong”.

Father John wished God's blessings for the "valuable service": "May God let you arrive safely and safely at the 125th anniversary celebration."

Small pageant and "griabiger" morning pint

After the Bavarian anthem, traditional costumes, athletes and guests went to the war memorial between the parish and town hall.

There, GTEV chairman Sepp and SC chairman Kößler laid a wreath for the deceased members, paying particular attention to the respective association's founders.

But that was not the end of the celebration, as originally thought.

The current Corona rules allowed the clubs to march through the center of the village in a smaller pageant, led by the drummers' procession.

And the "griabige Frühschoppen", so the two chairmen, could take place on the square in front of the town hall.
