The town of Zebdine in Damascus countryside is witnessing a remarkable activity with the gradual return of workshops and shops to work and the completion of the rehabilitation of the infrastructure damaged by terrorism and the provision of basic services, recording a new success of participation and the will of life among the Syrians.
The town is gradually recovering, as stated by Mustafa Diab Subai’i, owner of a modern shop and electrical appliances, who returned to Zebdine immediately after its liberation from terrorism and rehabilitated his shop. He told SANA: “The commercial movement in it is better every day with the return of most services and despite the high prices, the people are keen to rehabilitate their homes and workplaces.” .
Among his small workshop among the craftsman, Hassan Al-Azzam, is that he returned to the town two years ago and started work after rehabilitating his workshop, pointing out that the movement is improving and the situation is better in the hope of improving the reality of electricity as it is the backbone of life.
Omar al-Sagheer, owner of a blacksmith's workshop, considered that the partnership between the people and the local council resulted in the revival of work and the return of many workshops, crafts and shops.
With the passage of eight months since his return, Mahmoud Baghdadi, the owner of a grocery store that sells vegetables, saw that the situation is better and the town witnesses new developments every day, indicating that the vegetables he sells are mostly from Zabdine.
The head of the Municipal Council in Zebdine, Muhammad Salam al-Taweel, explained that work in Zebdine began in 2018 by removing rubble, opening and maintaining roads, asphalting some of them, maintaining water and electricity networks, installing additional transformers, and rehabilitating schools, which contributed to an increase in the population density in the town to 10,000 people.
Al-Taweel revealed the return of 35 shops and workshops between carpentry and blacksmithing, foodstuffs and vegetables, in addition to the resumption of the activity of some industrial establishments, stressing that work is continuing in cooperation with the local community and some organizations to improve the service reality and improve commercial and agricultural activity in it, which helps improve the living situation of citizens.
