For politicians, questions from children are demanding: You have to be nice and speak understandably. “Late Night Berlin” presenter Klaas Heufer-Umlauf provided eleven-year-olds with mean questions - and let them loose on Armin Laschet.

Actually things were going a little better for Armin Laschet.

Although the viewers voted Olaf Scholz the winner of the second TV triumph, the Union candidate for chancellor managed to score hits.

Armin Laschet, CDU candidate for chancellor

"The duel made clear the differences between red-green and what the CDU and CSU represent. And so it has contributed to clarity."

According to a Forsa survey, the Union even made up two percentage points over the SPD.

But there are still pitfalls lurking everywhere before the general election.

Also - or especially - on a TV show like "Late Night Berlin".

ProSieben presenter Klaas Heufer-Umlauf is known for putting his guests in uncomfortable situations.

This time he had Baerbock, Scholz and Laschet interviewed separately by two eleven-year-olds.

A situation that the Union's candidate for chancellor did not master with flying colors:

"Is Maassen a Nazi?"

"No.

(...) Sometimes, when he says the wrong thing, I contradict him too.

But if someone says: 'This is a Nazi', that is unfair.

He is not.

And Nazis are not allowed to be in the party.

"What did he say wrong?"

“You, if you're in the party - our party has 400,000 members.

Everyone says something.

And if I were to say every time: No, that's how I see it and that's how I see it ... What I say, I say aloud.

And then they also have to, because now I - you just said who is the head of the CDU - because I am now the chairman, everyone has to adhere to it. "

"But what's good about him?"

“Why should there be anything good about him?

I'm doing here now we want to chat with each other.

We're not doing a promotional event for Mr. Maaßen, whom you don't even know, but ... «

"But he should go to the Bundestag."

“Yes, but that again is decided by the people who have to vote for him.

I am in Aachen and I am choosing in Aachen.

So, do you have any questions? "

Little consolation for Laschet could be that he is not the only politician who struggles with child reporters.

Only recently, the AfD chairman Tino Chrupalla embarrassed himself in the ZDF program "Logo!".

“You also want to introduce more German cultural assets into schools.

What does that actually mean? "

"We want more German folk songs to be taught again, that German poems be learned, that we should pay more attention to our German poets and thinkers in schools."

“I think we have to learn quite a lot of poems by heart.

What is your favorite poem anyway?

Favorite German poem. "

"My favorite poem is, I have to now, if I would have to think again, I can't think of any."

"Not?"

"No?"

By the way: SPD man Scholz did not let himself be disturbed in the children's interview. Next Monday, Late Night Berlin wants to broadcast the interview with the Green candidate Baerbock. We can be curious.
