The automotive group Volkswagen is getting

Sebastian Wolf

from the Chinese battery cell manufacturer Farasis. According to the company, Wolf will be responsible for building up VW's European cell plants in the future. The German, who used to be a cell expert for Bosch and the management consultancy Boston Consulting, was previously responsible for Farasis as European head.

Volkswagen boss

Herbert Diess

(62) and the technical director responsible for battery supply

Thomas Schmall

(57) announced in March that Volkswagen would build six giant factories in Europe by 2030.

The first two plants are built in Salzgitter and Skelleftea, Sweden.

There the factory is being built and operated by the Swedish company Northvolt, and production is expected to begin in 2024.

Wolf should take care of the production of the cells as a kind of operational boss, insiders reported to manager magazin.

Farasis had announced the construction of a plant in Bitterfeld.

However, construction has not yet started, and the Chinese cell manufacturer's cooperation with Daimler is also stalling.

However, Wolf is not considered to be responsible for the problems in the industry.
