China today renewed its pledge to help promote arms control diplomacy to safeguard the country's security and development interests while contributing to international peace and development.
Today, in his speech at the 20th anniversary of the founding of the China Arms Control and Disarmament Association, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed the need to further develop arms control diplomacy with Chinese characteristics, which embodies China's responsibility as a major country to contribute to world peace and security.
He noted that China "will continue to play its role in safeguarding and enhancing global strategic stability and strengthening and improving the international arms control and disarmament system."
"The association has made great efforts to promote academic research and non-governmental activities in the field of arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation, in addition to its activity in implementing China's policies and proposals in these areas," he said.
