According to sources, four people came to Hong Kong through normal channels as early as 2019, and have overstayed in Hong Kong since then.

Among them, the Indonesian woman and one Thai woman involved worked as domestic helpers in Hong Kong, but they were not extended by the Immigration Department. Some people overstayed and worked in Hong Kong.

The remaining 1 Thai woman and 1 Thai man came to Hong Kong as visitors to Hong Kong on the same day. Among them, the Thai woman once obtained street papers, and the Thai man also overstayed in Hong Kong.

As for the female employer arrested for hiring illegal workers, she is a 53-year-old Hong Kong resident.

When the contingent personnel arrived at the scene to take the arrest action today, the four arrested illegal workers were wearing the work clothes of outsourced cleaners and using cleaning tools for cleaning.

The investigation revealed that the daily salary of the cleaning work involved ranged from 300 yuan to 500 yuan.

Wu Quanjie said that the Immigration Department will further understand the reasons for the person involved in the case overstaying in Hong Kong, whether it is affected by factors such as the epidemic, and will also investigate the responsibilities of hiring illegal workers. It does not rule out that other employees of the outsourced cleaning company may be held criminally responsible. Still under investigation.
