It is believed that Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán, who was the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel before his extradition to the States in 2017, had ordered the murder of Rodolfo Carrillo Fuentes, brother of 'El Viceroy' and 'The Lord of the Skies' .

Therefore, the two brothers ordered the killing of 'El Chapo' while he was still in prison.

The conflicts unleashed a war between cartels in the border city at the beginning of the century that undermined the Carrillo Fuentes organization and left hundreds of deaths and disappearances.
