Ben & Jerry's has violated state laws, the New Jersey State Treasury Department said Wednesday night
, saying the company's decision not to sell its products in the settlements is a forbidden boycott of Israel.
The global Unilever company received a notice on the subject, along with the sanction according to which a procedure will be promoted in the country to ban investments in the company's pension fund.
Tonight @NJTreasury announced that the Division of Investment has reached a preliminary determination that Unilever's actions via Ben and Jerry's constitute a boycott of Israel and violate NJ law.
A letter has been sent to Unilever notifying them of a provisional determination.

This, after the company announced two months earlier that it would refuse to sell its products "in the Occupied Palestinian Territories," and did not plan to renew its distribution agreement with the current Israeli franchisee.
